I have never thought much about butterflies where they come from or where they go. But a couple of months ago, a peculiar event happened as I was walking down the road trying to get 5000 steps on my iPhone. As I was looking down at all the leaves on the ground, I saw a peculiar leaf that looked like a butterfly. I pointed the iPhone to take a picture and as I bent down I saw it really was a beautiful yellow butterfly laying with its wings spread out flat on the ground. It looked like it was dead. I touched it gently with a finger and pushed it to see if it would move. It didn’t so I decided it must be dead. I carefully pushed it onto the palm of my hand and walked back to my RV where I placed it on a paper towel and put it on the dashboard where there was lots of sun all around. I said a short prayer and asked God to restore the life of this beautiful creature he had created. Nothing happened so I left it there while working on a story I was writing.
An hour or so went by and then, suddenly out of the corner of my eye I saw the wings of the beautiful yellow butterfly lift up. It was like it stood up, as though it was going to fly away. I looked at it closely, it wasn’t moving or showing signs of life, so I thought maybe it was just waiting for me to take it outside so it could soar in the sky.
As I walked out of the RV with the beautiful yellow butterfly held out in front of me, it suddenly just flew away. I watched it for a moment, if I only had wings, I would have flown with it to the places God intended it to go to show its beauty to the rest of the people in this world.
It was a lovely memory that I will not soon forget, but I will always wonder if the beautiful yellow butterfly was dead or alive or did God bring it back to life because of a prayer I had said.
Until next time
Duane
I often wonder what my role is in this world. So far it has been ho hum or something like it. Maybe God just intended for me to see and record the love all around me and not be part of what I see other people doing. Duane Sincerbox
